Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz - was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents, Winona Ryder's parents, gave her the name of the town she grew up in. His father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's father is from an ethnically Jewish family Ryder thinks she's Jewish. The actress is the younger sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated to Mendocino County, California, when she was just seven. There was no electricity. Ryder was a prolific reader due to the lack of television. Ryder was 12 when she took up a place at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. Ryder landed her first film role on the big screen in 1986, at the age of 15 older. Ryder faced bullying in high school. Ryder believed that if she became an actor her behaviour would be changed. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. However, she continued to pursue her ambitions. Beetlejuice the 1988 Tim Burton film, was her debut big break. Ryder continued to play numerous roles that were successful. In 1993, Ryder was in the running twice for Academy Awards.
